Jewellery and silk designed and made by me for you.

Like many other people at school I was not regarded as artistic because I could not draw. It was only many years later when a friend persuaded me to go to patchwork classes that I realised the satisfaction which can come from craftwork. For me the appeal was in texture and colour rather than the sewing so I went back to college to study for a City and Guilds qualification in silk painting. Once again I preferred the colour to the sewing so began producing a range of silk scarves and ties using ready sewn items. A few years ago a bead shop opened in Haddington and I had a new source of wonderful colours and textures to play with. Making beaded jewellery rekindled an old ambition - to learn how to make silver jewellery - so I am back at classes again! I love all kinds of beads - from inexpensive acrylic to semi-precious stones and designer lampwork.  With less expensive beads I normally use plated findings and with semi-precious stones or lampwork I use sterling silver or vermeil.

I live in Haddington, a small market town near Edinburgh. Haddington lies among the hills of East Lothian - hence the theory that it's name derives from 'hidden town'.

I do not guarantee that each item is unique but I seldom produce two absolutely identical pieces. If you are inspired by something that is not shown in your colours or if you see something you like in the gallery please contact me to discuss my making something to suit you. This is a new site so I welcome your comments.
